Celebrities with Acne?

"How to Get Great Skin Like a Celebrity: 6 steps", "How do get perfect skin like a celebrity without make-up?" and "How to have glowing skin like a celebrity" are only a few examples of hundred thousand of results you will find online when you browse "Celebrity skin".
Their pictures are everywhere: in magazines, in television, newspapers, online. It is almost impossible to not stumble across a picture of a celebrity with perfect, flawless skin. Nearly everyone of us had a famous role model in their past, we adored them of their perfect skin, their perfect body, their perfect everything. Some of us still look up to them.

Before you read further please keep this in mind

When you read my post about Real Life Dolls - Dakota Rose & Valeria Lukyanova you'll know the thought behind it was to inform mostly young girls and women with low self esteem who model themselves on celebrities in general. This post is similiar. We are all human, no one is perfect. When you're aiming for perfection you will soon discover it is a moving target. Celebrities are human as well, they have to face pimples, weight gain and cellulite as every other woman or man.

This posts titbit: Acne

Acne. Nearly everyone have struggled with it in the past or still fights against it. It lowers our self esteem and destroys our souls by thinking we're ugly, unloved creatures. In my last year of high school I had a really tough time because of my skin. Suddenly pimples bob up everywhere, on my face and neck, on my cleavage, shoulders, on my back and even on the head. They were huge, my skin ached, was red and swollen and dried out. Because I was so ashamed of my skin I wore polo neck jumper and scarfs during spring, not allowing anyone to see my skin. I tried every lotion and cream you can buy in the drugstore, in the end my dermatologist could help by prescribing several strong creams I had to apply both in the morning and night. After a few months my skin was better, but it took around 2 years for my skin to heal completely.

During this time I found myself envy celebrities and their pefect, flawless skin. Famous teenagers who were younger than me or perhaps the same age who had not a single pimple to worry about. It was degrading to see myself in the mirror with the celebrities face in mind. I not only felt ugly but also isolated. Never had I thought about photoshop back then until recently.

We live in a society and day in age where everything we see is been edited and retouched. Not only pictures, but moving images and film go through a complex amendemt too. Everyone can edit their pictures, celebrities are no exception. You might think pictures taken by paparazzi proofs authenticity and validness, but truth is they are edited most of the time as well (except for those scandalous pictures showing certain body areas...)

Again, I don't want to make fun of the fact people have skin issues but to appease everyone out there that we are perfectly fine just the way we are!

Why? Because retouched pictures can give us a sense of that we are not good enough, that we will never be as beautiful and perfect as for example celebrities.
Seeing a picture of a famous actress, singer or model who are suffering from the same problems we all suffer from appeases us with the truth behind those pictures that celebrities aren't different from us. They are human, they suffer from imperfection as we do, they have acne as we do.

The only big difference is that they have access to brilliant and marvelous make-up artists and the ability to get their pictures and music videos retouched to appear flawless, beautiful, perfect and well- better looking than they really are.
We can't blame them can we? We all have things we want to cover up, all of us use make-up to look better, to feel better. Seeing celebrities with acne is good for us, good for our self esteem because we are reminded that nobody is naturally perfect.

Keeping this in mind is also important when you go shopping for make-up, because the advertisements and editorial we are looking at are all edited. The people on it are enhanced and appear more beautiful. They are fake. But again, if you would be a model posing for pictures you will soon see on huge billboards would you pass on retouching? I wouldn't. People want to look as best as possible, as beautiful as possible.

This post is just a quick reminder that we all suffer from the same insecurities, celebrity or no celebrity.

Indulge Me #6

(Source: tumblr)

Starting the day with applications at several places while thinking about one owns unknown future is not really canny, it is rather quite uncomfortable, at least for me.

Speaking of uncomfortable, do you ever have those days where you  sulk in yourself and feel sad yet can't point out the reason?
My day turned out like this today. I felt, and still feel, useless, wondered what I have done with my life all along and where it will lead me to. Is it my subconscious mind trying to communicate with me? There might be something bothering me on a different level, a level I am not fully aware of yet.
As if this isn't bad enough, I also have a hard time believing in myself these days. It feels like I never do anything right. When I applied for university I felt confident and was assured it is the right path. Other students have no clue about their future, haven't thought about the job environment they would like to see themselves in in a few years. Not me. I started off with the best intentions, gave everything, but the outcome always went wrong. The world isn't working in my favour.
Countless times I reconsidered my goals and dreams, lowered my sights so only really important things were left. It is more than a damper to my spirits, especially on a day like today.

One thing you have to remember is that you have to live in the present and not in the past. I try to remind myself right now. I shouldn't be scared to start something based on my past, based on the outcome of other things. Instead I have to hope for the best. At the end of the day there is only one person I have to answer to and that is myself. Wherever my actions lead me to, I am the one who is responsible for my life. Yes, sometimes we have to make decisions which might not be wise, sometimes living on the edge brings one's whole potential forward. Nevertheless, we have to live with the consequences of our behaviour and decisions, so do I.

Blogging Tips: Everyone Favicon (Or: what's the icon next to your URL?)

Is there anyone out there who never saw an icon like this before? When you have your own blog and haven't generated the icon yet, it does look like this:

Even when this little icon appears in the browser address bar I like to generate it to have my own, personalised icon.

Google is my best friend (and your'r too I guess ;)) when I want to try something new and don't know where to look for it. After a while I found this homepage.

For those of you who might need a little explanation, here we go:

First: Decide what kind of icon you want. Well for me it was pretty easy, I wanted to have a little Jay Park looking all cute and smexy next to my URL. At least it's cute...

On Favicon you have the opportunity to make your own icon by creating own, but to be honest that sounds pretty tough. If you aren't into nerdy pixel things then you should have a look at the "Import Image" tab where you can upload an existing photo.
Keep in mind your picture will be shrinked to a little icon (16x16 pixels to be exact), so you shouldn't chose on with plenty of details on it (no smexy-Jay-with-honey-abs-icon...). Try different pictures to get a feeling for the result.

Lovely Jay looks like this:

Yes, you can't recognise him, but when you take a look at the browser's address the outcome is already reviewable.
Second: All you have to do know is clicking on the download button under your photo and a save box pops up.

Third: Again blogger makes it easy to integrate this toy to your blog. Go on the "Layout" page and upload your icon (make sure you know where you saved it ;)).

Sometimes it takes some hours until you can see you icon, you can either wait, use a different browser or clear your cache.

7 Things for 7 Days with Sprinkle Of Glitter

While brainstorming about what to write about and share with the world I stumbled upon Louise blog and her recent 7 Things for 7 Days post. If you haven't already I suggest strongly visit her blog and dip into her little world.

Now let's have a closer look at the mission: it resembles a new year's resolution list but instead of having a whole year to fulfill your dreams, desires and whishes (and probably forgetting about them after a few weeks...) you only have one week for seven different goals you set.
Writing down 7 things you want to achieve in the next 7 days is not only a great motivation to actually do them but also to have the option checking later how far you got.
(Source: tumblr)

This week I plan to:

Exercise: My workout plan is pretty decent yet I now I haven't tap the full potential. I don't want to spend hours at the gym either but spending a few more minutes on cardio won't be harmful.

Study: After realising I haven't done anything during the last 2 years I finally have to get on the bandwagon and finish university. Well, this won't be possible in the next 7 days though but at least I can study for my upcoming exam in macroeconomics.
Goal: Reading & taking notes (for) all 15 chapters and perhaps start with exercises.

Working on my recipe book: Yes, I tend to write down recipes of food I would love to lie in (sounds gross...) plus I plan to start a Korean Food Challenge next month. Until then I have to get a few more ideas.

Read: When I was younger I used to read a lot, right now I try to get back on the track. Currently I'm working my way through Nora Roberts "Daring To Dream". I already read the German translation a few years ago but since I like original versions better I had to buy it.

Organise: Especially my life and my plans. I am one of those persons who want too much in no time, you can imagine it's not possible, far from it, it leads to more problems and misunderstandings. I have to rethink what I truly want, that includes lower my sights and focus on important things.

Gift: My brother's birthday is around the corner so I have to think about something nice, perhaps driving school lessons?

Clean: Thanks god I live far away enough that my Grandmam can't see my window, otherwise she would go wild. I'm still able to look through it, I mean, I live on a high street so there is alot of dirt and exhaust fumes...

This week I will concentrate on my life and won't be bogged down by small uncontrollable things. Deep down in my stomach I feel a depression coming upwards but I will try to cut negativity out so I will be a little bit closer to my goals in 7 days.

Who's in doing any of these goals or their own with me?

Sultry Blulet Make up Tutorial

Products used:

skin79 Super Beblesh Balm BB Cream
MAC Studio Finish Concealer in NW15
Manhattan Soft Compact Powder in Transparent

88 Shimmer Palette
Manhattan Luxopolis Eyeshadow in Jet Sade Jade
L'Oreal Studio Secrets Professional 90° Easy Mascara

Above you can see the baby blue colour I used all over the eyelid.

I used the black eyeshadow in the right corner to smudge the kohl pencil, it is just an average black and you can use whatever you have. Then I placed the shimmery violet colour above the black and blended it out towards the eyebrows.

Last but not least I used this shimmery turquoise for the outer part of the lid and blended it into the baby blue so that the eyes look more dimensional.

And well yes, I camwhored again, but it's definitely not my fault, I just have too much fun with this camera... ヽ(;▽;)ノ

Review: Klapp X-Treme Hydra Complete

What Klapp claims:

X-TREME HYDRA COMPLETE contains low molecular as well as high molecular hyaluronic acid as its highly effective ingredient. THE moisture care with Nano- and Retard Technologies of the 21st Century. It refills the skin's moisture depots and protects it against moisture loss. The result is a smooth, firm and fresh skin.

My thoughts:

The texture is more liquidy and gel alike so you don't need much product even when you use it for your whole face. It moisturises and hydrates really well, but for my skin it isn't enough. After applying I feel the urge to use another moisturiser on top otherwise my skin will dry out over night (I tried it). Furthermore this product contains an ingredient which irritates my skin on days when it is more sensitive. It iches and even burns so I can't use it. The criterion for exclusion is the fact that it doesn't moisturises as much as I hoped it would and I don't see a point in paying 38£ (59$, 47€).

Summer with Colour Make up Tutorial

With my new camera I finally have the opportunity to make new videos again, the quality is thousand times better than before. It was rather funny, I wanted to do a new tutorial as soon as possible so I gave myself no time to experiment with the video settings. The result is pretty okay, unfortunately the weather wasn't as good as hoped, today it's even worse.

Products used:

skin79 Super Beblesh Balm BB Cream
MAC Studio Finish Concealer in NW15
Manhattan Soft Compact Powder in Transparent

88 Colour Palette
False Lashes from HK, No 6
DUO eyelash gluo in clear-white
benefit georgia
alverde blush in No 05, Pastel Rose
YSL Rougé Volupté Lipstick No 1

I really like this look, it is colourful yet not too bold so you can wear it on a daily basis without looking too dolled up. The colours suit everyone, whether you have lighter or darker skin.

Here the final tutorial result:

Indulge me #5 (Picture heavy)

Let me introduce you my new best friend: my new camera. (─‿‿─)

I bought it last Friday but hadn't have any opportunity to make pictures with it yet. Today I gave myself a break from studying and snapped some not really interesting pics in my room just to get to know this little baby better. I still lack a lot of everything but it was so much fun to just make silly photos.

I have always been a big fan of Sepia and actually I wanted to use it for every single shot but well, life isn't in sepia (unfortunately) plus it would become boring after a while. Nevertheless I like the Sepia pics the most... Anyway, I guess I have to read the manual to find every little hidden secret. Hopefully the weather will be better in the next days so I can take the little baby with me. ( ̄┏∞┓ ̄)
