Drama of the week - 49 days

Every now and then I love to watch lovey-dovey korean dramas full of stereotyped role allocations starring beautiful women and even more handsome men. Moreover I already recognise some words and sentences also when I study Korean only for a weeks now.
Anyways, let's have a quick look on my current watchlist ~

(Source: mydramalist)
49일 - 49 days

I read so many good reviews about this drama, so I was really excited to finally start watching it. I know, I know, it aired in spring but I always tend to watch them a weeks, or in this case a few months, after the last episode aired.

The story is pretty simple. Shin Ji Hyeon who soon should get married gets into a car accident and ends up in hospital, brain dead. Because she wasn't fated to die the Scheduler offers her a chance to continue her life. In the body of Song I Gyeong she has to find three people who truly love her and collect their tears. However her family members don't count and Ji Hyeon has to fulfil the job within 49 days - otherwise she will die.

Jeong Il U (정일우,24) isn't a newbie nevertheless I never saw his acting before. He is quite handsome, hands down, and a good singer but he isn't my favourite actor in this drama because he still lacks a lot in terms of skills. I don't say his acting is bad, it actually becomes better during the drama but compared to the other actors he still has a long way to go. I'm more happy to see Choe Jeong U (최정우,53) again, he is on my personal top list of korean actors. In my opinion his skills are fantastic no matter whether he plays the villain or a loving father. Unfortunately I never saw him havin the main role.
Nam Gyu Ri (남규리,26) is quite okay, her acting is good but average. She is really beautiful though, but I never really found out whether she does wear circle lenses or not because she has this dolly look. I like her character and symphatised a lot, furthermore her acting isn't as annoying as Seo Ji Hye's (서지혜,27).
With Lee Yo Won (이요원,31) and Jo Hyeon Jae (조현재, 31) this drama has more experienced main actors so I hope they benefit the whole drama.
Lee Yo Won really pissed me off at the beginning, I just wanted to grab her shoulders and shake her. But I had to realise it is just her role she has to play. Her acting skills are flawless, she could switch between the roles so easily.
My thoughts on Jo Hyeon Jae? I fell head over heels for him. His role is by far the best main male role I ever saw, his character actually is the only one who thinks logically and never gives up. And he is so handsome...
Next have a look on Bae Su Bin (배수빈,34). Perhaps I am one of the few people who don't hate him. Yes, his role Gang Min Ho is the baddest bad boy, the most cold-hearted, calculating and manipulating villain ever, BUT during all the time I thought he has to have a soft heart under his really hard shell right? And he has. I love Bae Su Bin's acting a lot and I think I will watch some dramas with him in future.

My thoughts on the story? I actually haven't seen anything like this before, it is unique, the idea is pretty interesting and I am curious how everything will develop. But I guess the ending will be plain ordinary right?

ATTENTION SPOILER!! --> after I watched the drama: Hell, why? Why does Ji Hyeon has to die? I never cried so much, someone wrote this drama has to have the name "1 million litre of tears" and yes, I can only agree. As you can tell by my presumption I thought this drama would be just another heartbreaking drama with a happy end and after I watched the first episode I was pretty sure what will happen in the last episode. But there is no happy ending. Ji Hyeon dies. Not because she can't get 3 tears, she gets them, but because her time ends 6 days after she woke up again. When she told I Gyeong she will die soon I didn't wanted to watch any further. I wanted Ji Hyeon and Gang to be happy together, forever. But this ending won't happen in this drama but only in my imagination.
However the ending doesn't annoy me, instead the drama shows everyone to live their life to the fullest, to be thankful and accomplish what they desire.
This drama is full of grown up characters which change during the drama a lot. Ji Hyeon is at first immature and without worries but then she becomes more mature and you fall in love with her. I Gyeong realises to not take her life for granted.
You find a few nice love stories as well, but they aren't as silly and full of clichés as other romantic stories but mature and somehow also depressing. The characters don't brag about the fact they aren't loved back, instead they understand it and know how to deal with it, like adults.

Furthermore I like how this drama deals with topics like friendship, death and love, "all that glitters is not gold" describes it the best.

Another important aspect: the soundthttp://www.blogger.com/img/blank.gifrack. I love music and for me a good drama needs an even better soundtrack. The soundtrack is pretty good. Jeong Il U has a nice voice, Navi demonstrates again that she is a talented singer and Seo Yeong Eun's Can't let go (of you) is a stunning lovely song. But my favourite is Park Bo Ram's Forever (Always). Yes, the lyrics are heartbreaking, but doesn't it fit the whole drama?

All in all I think when you love korean dramas you will enjoy watching this. But it's not a must-watch (does this word even exist?). However, I probably will devour the other episodes ~

--> Not a must-watch? Dammit, WATCH IT!! GOOOOOOOO!! I guess after the third or fourth episode it was already one of my favourite dramas. The story is great, the characters amazing, the actors fantastic, the whole drama is perfect. I will definitely watch it again during winter!
Final rating:
★★★★★ & Favourit

POLYVORE INSPIRATION | I Deserved To Grow.. And To Change...

“The truth was I knew, after all those flat January days, that I deserved better. I deserved I love yous and kiwi fruits and warriors coming to my door, besotted with love. I deserved pictures of my face in a thousand expressions, and the warmth of a baby's kick beneath my hand. I deserved to grow, and to change, to become all the girls I could be over the course of my life, each one better than the last.”

POLYVORE INSPIRATION | Autumn

My new experiment idea

(Source: google)

It's been a while since my last post and today I won't talk about make up or beauty related things. Instead, I will do post more about one of my other passions in the future.

But prior to that, who of you knows the movie "Julie & Julia"? One evening some time ago me and my friend had a little cooking session and afterwards we enjoyed watching the said movie which deals with two women whom lifes are interwined through cooking. While living in Paris in the fifties Julia Child tried to find herself with the help of cooking and soon she writes a cooking book with two french friends. 50 years later the unemployed Julie Powell decides to cook herself through Julia's book "Mastering the Art of French Cooking" and shares her experiences on her blog. The whole story is based on a true story (or two).

So what does this has to do with me? I always loved to cook and bake, perhaps because my Pap was a pastry cook and used to bake a lot when I was little. Besides there should be no harm with cooking and baking a little bit right? It's not that I am bored, I actually have enough to do with university and youtube, however this movie inspired me a lot.
Since I don't have a boyfriend/husband/guinea pig I don't know how many recipes I will do per week... so you have to take pot luck. ;)

Concerning the recipes... I will mix everything. First of all I always wanted to try to cook Bulgogi (불고기), not only because I freakin love it to hell and back, but also because I study Korean (so it would be nice to know a few korean recipes right?). Furthermore I found some nice italien recipes, french, american, belgian etc. etc.
Now put up and shut up -- there isn't a single cooking book which I find interesting enough to cook myself through it, so instead I will look for country-specific recipes. Having around 200 countries makes around 400 home cooking & baking recipes right? I can't wait to start this experiment.

Day of the Dead / Sugar Skull: Creating the look

Hello Beauty Junkies!

I was so excited for Halloween because I love to create different styles and looks, and not only the normal type of make up tutorials. It's a lot of work but, I've really put all my time and effort into these creations.
Actually I planned to do more halloween tutorials but university did start last week and I don't want to make the same mistake again like I did last semester: only study at the end of the semester. So I guess I will save some looks for next year...

Now ... onto my Sugar Skull look!

Like I said before, I love unoriginal make up looks, I prefer bright and bold colours even if they aren't intended to wear on a daily basis. Halloween is not only about scary Zombies and creepy dark-haired girls, so I decided to try the Sugar Skull look.

Now for those who are interested in culture: The day of the dead (Día de los Muertos) is a Mexican holiday, where all the family members and friends gather together to pray for their dead friends or family members. It's not only celebrated in Mexico but also in the United States and Canada and takes place on the first and second of November - we Catholics do celebrate All Saint's Day on the 1st and All Soul's Day on the 2nd of November, and yes, the Mexican and the Catholic holidays are connected.
The ritual goes back to the indigenous cultures and in the pre-Hispanic era it was common to keep skulls for rituals to symbolise death and also rebirth.
The Day of the Death isn't a mournful commemoration, instead it's a colourful and happy holiday and people build a private altar. The deceased are honoured by using sugar skulls, marigolds and their favourite food.

After reading some texts about the Day of the Dead in general I looked for some picutres online.

Here are some of the inspiration pictures:

Because it was the first time for me doing this look I decided to keep it more simple and basic (moreover I still need more fine brushes...). I had an exact picture in my head how the make up should look like, but unfortunately not all things turn out as planned and I think when you watched the tutorial you already noticed that the opposite lines aren't very symmetrical. I know it's not the best tutorial in terms of precision but I did my best (and I think about doing another one next year).

I planned to use Mexican music, but I actually had no name or song title by hand so I just decided to use some vocal trance music instead.

What no one knows: my workplace is a total mess. I can't find my stuff anymore so I have to halt the filming to search everything... and afterwards when I'm done with the video I don't have the time to wash all of my brushes, so some of them are still waiting to get cleaned...

Last but not least some pictures:

Hello Beauty Junkies ~

The days become colder and colder and I already got sick - it's just a light cold but university just started a few days ago so I really can't stay at home.
What do we need during these cold weeks? Warm clothes! I found this set some months ago but I think right now is the perfect time for something like this. Perhaps I'm going to shop a little bit in a few days, after posting this set I feel like getting some winter clothes ~

First Halloween Look

Hello beauty junkies,

It's time to think about halloween, so I started to make my first tutorial - a sad and broken doll look. I love this make up, it turned out really cute and I actually didn't wanted to wash it off afterwards. Have fun watching it and if you do this for halloween, let me know ~

Being all natural with Sleek?

Hello Beauty Junkies ~

I had my eyes on a few sleek products and thought it would be time to get some.

First of all the Au Natural palette. The colours are bloody amazing and the pigmentation is awesome. Yes, I absolutely love this palette. I knew Sleek would be great but I didn't expected this. I can't wait to try this product out. But for I can say Moss and Regal are my favourite colours. ^-^

Next I got two blushes, Pan Tao and Suede out of the Au Natural collection.

Again, the colour are stunning. At first I was put off by the screaming orange of Pan Tao but it looks really nice on the skin. Same goes for Suede, which is a nice nude blush colour.

Last but not least the pout polish from the Au Natural collection. I so fell in love with this polish, I love the colour, it smells like coconut and feels really nice on the lips.

That's it for my sleek haul so far, did anyone purchased these products as well?

German Review: Shining Cosmetics

Hello Beauty Junkies ~

Alles in allem: ★★★★☆
Punktabzug gibt es wirklich nur für die manchmal eingeschränkte Produktauswahl, alle anderen Faktoren könnten nicht besser sein!

ELF Haul

Hello Beauty Junkies ♥

I cleaned my brushes the other day and while doing so I decided to get some new ones. Also when I still have my eyes on the sigma brushes I can't afford them right now, so I purchased a few from elf again.

I love these simple eye shadow brushes, they are easy to work with, don't have too much fall outs and you can use them in different ways.

Besides the two eye shadow brushes I also got this blending brush. The one I have right now is from HK, it's average for blending but bloody awful when it comes to picking up a new colour because most of it falls out. The elf blending brush seems nice, not as fluffy as I think it would be, but definitely better than my old one.

Furthermore I got my hands on the Studio Line blush, I picked up Candid Coral. I love coral toned blushes the most and this one looked really nice.

The swatch isn't that mind blowing though, but I hope it will be higher pigmented when I apply it on the cheeks. Actually it is almost the same colour as MAC melba... it only has a sheen to it.

But what I really love the most is that elf always sends sweeties with each order

Review: Artdeco All in One Mascara in Black

Hello Beauty Junkies,

I have another review for you guys. This time it's about the All In One Mascara by Art Deco.

Since I am a big fan of mascara I love to try out new ones and when I saw this one in my Glossybox from July I immediately gave it a try.
It contains among other things Panthenol, Hydrogenated Olive Oil and Oryza Sativa (Rice) Bran Wax, so it's recommendable when you have sensitive skin or frail lashes.

This mascara is available in six different shades: black, grey, brown, blue, olive and berry. It promises to be a long lasting mascara which helps your lashes to appear longer, fuller and at the same time maintain their flexibility and curl. When you live in Germany you can purchase it at Douglas for € 12,80 (~ $19, ~ £11).

My thoughts...

... on the packaging. The design is simple yet doesn't look cheap, I like the black and silver packaging.

... on the texture, colour and smell. I can't say anything about the other colours, but this one is a nice deep black, the texture is creamy and smooth and I love the smell of this mascara. It doesn't have this average chemical smell, instead it reminds me of a moisturiser, I can't really tell, but it's really nice.

... the mascara itself. I hate it when I have to wipe of some of the product on a tissue before I can apply it and this is what happened when I used the mascara the first times. The mascara does go on clean if you wipe off the excess product otherwise your lashes will clump together. To be honest I don't really see a great difference in terms of volume, but this mascara does lengthen my lashes. It stays on the whole day and doesn't smudge (I wore it on a hot day in summer) which is a big plus.

... on the remove. It's easy to remove, I can't say whether you can wash it off with water easily because I always use a make up remover, but you won't have to rub it off.

All in all this is a nice product. I don't mind that it doesn't separate the lashes perfectly, it does lengthen them well and won't run off.
Nevertheless I wouldn't buy it. Why? Because I already have my all time favourite mascara in terms of long lashes and I need a product which is waterproof. However I can recommend this mascara, it's not as cheap as other drug store products but I think it does it job for it's price.

Review: L'Oreal Hydra Active 3

Hello Beauty Junkies ~

Normally I use my Vichy Aqualia Thermal as my daily moisturiser, but I wanted to try out a drug store product, so I bought this:

L'Oreal Hydra Active 3. It's another version of the Hydrafresh moisturiser for dry and sensitive skin which you get in the UK and I think also in the US.
Even when my skin tends to break out sometimes, it's more on the dryer site and can be really sensitive.

Why did I bought this one and not another drug store product? Well my mum had this too so when I stayed at my parent's house the last time I tried it out a few times (sorry mum) and liked it a lot.

L'Oreal Hydra Active 3 is a good quality moisturiser, it is easy to apply which you can use both as a day and night time moisturiser. It spreads pretty smoothly, it isn't greasy and has SP 15 - which isn't high but it's better than nothing and definitely a benefit. Nevertheless for me it's too heavy to use it in the morning, I have the feeling my skin can't absorb the cream quickly enough for me to apply foundation afterwards.
My skin feels smooth and hydrated, this moisturiser is a good deal for a drug store product. I often apply it in the evening after showering and wake up with a really nice skin in the morning. Furthermore it doesn't break me out.

So all in all it's a great moisturiser for less money, but when you need more moisture you should choose another cream.
